Prepping up your skin for the day is important, but following the right order in applying the products will make them even more effective.
Step 1: Mild Cleanser
This is a step you cannot miss out on. At best, use a washcloth, cleansing cloths or cotton pads.
Step 2: Corrective Treatments
You might have various products like acne gels, serums, or eye creams. You start with the thinnest, otherwise, the thicker products prevent the thinner ones from being absorbed by the skin.
Step 3: Moisturizer
Most moisturizers are oil-based, so anything you apply on top will not get absorbed. After you clean the face and get it dry, moisturize to keep skin hydrated and protected.
Step 4: Sunscreen
Some moisturizers have SPF, even a low one (SPF 15) is enough for the face. Otherwise, you will need to add it at the end. You need it even if it is cloudy and rainy, your face can get sun damage. In fact, sunscreen should be applied every single day of the year.
Exfoliation is important to keep the face fresh, so you should do it a couple of times every week. It will also remove any dead skin cells, dirt, and deep clean pores. Thus, any product will be able to penetrate the skin more effectively. Make sure to not overdo it, though, or you end up with oilier skin.
