Honey has wonderful properties that are good for you. It is a humectant (keeps things moist), antibacterial, and hygroscopic (has healing properties). Plus, it is a great addition to your beauty routine.
1. Moisturizes Skin
When your skin requires a bit of hydrating, you can use a homemade mask with just 1 teaspoon of pure honey. Simply spread on your face for 15 minutes. Rinse after.
2. Cleans Pores
Mix honey with olive or coconut oil for your natural makeup remover and cleanser. Rub a few drops of the mixture on the skin to unclog your pores. Rinse with warm water after.
3. Exfoliates Dead Skin
Honey (2 tablespoons) with sugar or coffee grounds (two tablespoons of either) create a body or face scrub.
4. Reduces Scars
Manuka honey can be applied to scars and they will fade faster. It helps small burns heal quickly, too. However, never apply to an open wound because it might have bacteria in it.
5. Conditions Hair
Apply a mixture of honey and coconut or olive oil to damp hair, letting it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
6. Great For A Relaxing Bath
Mix 2 tablespoons of honey with 1 cup of hot water for 10 minutes, adding a couple of drops of essential oils before mixing to your bath.
7. Removes Unwanted Hair
You can create your own wax with 1 tablespoon of raw honey, 3 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Boil until it turns brown and let it cool. Apply it onto the skin with a popsicle stick. Use a cotton strip to remove the wax (and the hair along with it).
Thanks to the many uses of honey, you can create your DIY, all-natural beauty products.
